6 Helpful Exercises to Develop Your Mind Power

1. Get enough sleep

With the hustle and bustle of modern day living, sleep is often overlooked as an important part of overall health.

Did you know that sleep helps regulate our “appetite” hormones? Therefore, the lack of sleep could cause a hormonal imbalance that increases your appetite for unhealthy foods.

Also, sleep regulates our dopamine levels. When sleep-derived, your dopamine levels decrease and that could lead to depression and emotional problems. So get some more sleep and it will help you stay happy and develop your mind power.

2. Perform physical exercises

In a review done by Henriette van Praag, studies shows that after ten days of running on wheels, rodent subjects showed an increased amount of brain cells.  Not only that, exercise helps release our “happy” hormones, also known as endorphins. If you’re happy, you’re more focused and motivated to achieve your goals.

3. Never stop learning

The human mind power is enhanced whenever we learn new things. For instance, whenever we learn a second language, our physical brain creates brand new neural pathways, which helps in brain growth. It doesn’t have to be purely academics, though. You can also do other interesting stuff, like dancing.

4. Use your mind, not gadgets

Scientists said that humans used to have tails (amazing, huh?). However, as time went by, it shrunk (as evidenced by your sacral bone) and disappeared because humans didn’t use it anymore.

Our brain neurons can actually shrink or get destroyed, too, when they’re not continually stimulated. So, instead of using calculators to do simple math, you can come up with answers using your mind.

5. Choose to see things in the positive

Bad experiences and memories often explain why some people view the world in a negative light at all times. Impossible it may seem, but it can be conquered by choosing to nurture the positive side rather than the bad.

You don’t have to ignore the negative outcomes. You just have to learn to accept it and choose to move towards a more positive path.

6. Perform De-stressing Activities

When your brain is stress-free and relaxed, it can better absorb new information, effectively communicate with the internal and external environment, and maintain good physical health.
