Beliefs and the Subconscious:
3 Useful Ways to Beat Your Negative Beliefs

Your subconscious shapes your reality by the beliefs you hold.

That’s why it’s important to be equipped with the right beliefs, if you want to live a happy and successful life. If you want to know more about beliefs and the subconscious, then keep reading.

What Are Beliefs?

Beliefs are opinions that are considered to be real or true.
It doesn’t matter if these opinions are good or bad, true or false, as long as the mind and subconscious mind have accepted them as truths.

Psychologists and biologists say that our beliefs started to form by the time we were in our mother’s womb and are take hold by the time we reach the age of six. We get them from our parents, guardians, and life experiences.

Since we don’t have the ability to discern yet as kids, these opinions are easily integrated into our core being and dictate our personality and behavior as we grow older.

External stimuli don’t normally reach our subconscious mind without being filtered by our conscious mind first. There are times, however, that this system is breached when…

… Your conscious mind is distracted, like when listening to music.
… If a trusted source gives the idea, the mind readily accepts it as the truth.

The Dangers of Retaining False Beliefs in Your Subconscious

Some beliefs on your subconscious are harmless while others are so crippling that an individual is deprived of a normal life. False or negative beliefs can destroy your chances to a healthy and long-term relationship or cause you to miss out on great opportunities.

This vicious cycle could go on and on, unless you firmly decide to put a stop to it.

3 Ways to Eliminate False Beliefs

#1: Challenge self-limiting beliefs

Always evaluate your thoughts. If you grew up to believe that you’re bad, challenge that thought by asking relevant questions. Like “Am I really a bad person?” Then review your behavior and past experiences that will NOT support this false belief.

#2: Surround yourself with positive people and environment.

Be careful what kind of company that you choose to be with, they can be your pitfall. Even if you choose to be positive, it’s hard to go against the tide for a long time. If you keep hanging out with negative people, your positivity could be overwhelmed and eventually weakened.

#3: Practice positive self-talk and affirmations.

When you were a kid, you have no choice but to listen to those who are more “experienced” in life. If your parent keeps telling you that you’re stupid, then you’ll grew to believe that you are.

The beauty of growing up is you’re more capable of evaluating and choosing what you want to believe. So, do yourself a favor: be your own best friend. Say nice and empowering words to yourself every single day.

Beating our false beliefs might not always be easy, but it is possible and something you have to do. If you want to live a successful life, train yourself to always challenge these negative subconscious beliefs.
